Clara es una reconocida ilustradora y autora de libros infantiles, que acaba de recibir el premio internacional más importante de literatura infantil. En busca de paz y con la intención de aprovechar el tiempo para escribir y dibujar, decide mudarse con su familia al barrio donde nació. Allí se reencuentra con Ariel, su primer novio, y su hermano Carlos, ambos amigos de la infancia con los que retoma una relación que nada tiene que ver con su faceta de autora de éxito. Pero mientras Clara y sus hijos parecen adaptarse con relativa facilidad a su nueva vida, a Francisco, su esposo, le cuesta más integrarse.

El tercer largometraje de Natalia Smirnoff presenta la historia de una mujer creativa y vital que encuentra en la vida en el campo una vía para revivir sensaciones e ilusiones que creía ya olvidadas. El retorno a sus orígenes provoca un cambio de perspectiva en Clara respecto al estilo de vida que fue construyendo a medida que su carrera prosperaba. Cabe destacar la interpretación de Paola Barrientos, que encarna a la perfección el papel de una mujer que recupera la ilusión y las ganas de crear cuando su vida se torna más sencilla, alejada de los focos y de cierto encorsetamiento autoimpuesto por el que se regía en la que consideraba su zona de confort. La naturalidad es otro de los principales méritos de la película; aquí todo transcurre con fluidez, incluso los conflictos. Un film sobre el desafío de vivir prescindiendo de artificios.

Clara is a renowned children's book illustrator and author who has just received the most important international award in children's literature. Looking for some peace and hoping to take time to write and draw, she decides to move with her family to the neighborhood where she was born. There, she reconnects with Ariel, her first boyfriend, and his brother Carlos, both childhood friends. She picks up her relationship with them, which has little to do with her life as a successful author. But while Clara and her children seem to adapt relatively easily to their new life, Francisco, her husband, has a harder time fitting in.

Natalia Smirnoff's third feature introduces the story of a creative and lively woman that, in her life in the countryside, finds a way to relive feelings and illusions she thought long forgotten. The return to her roots causes a shift in perspective for Clara in relation to the lifestyle she built as her career progressed. Paola Barrientos' performance is noteworthy, flawlessly embodying the role of a woman that regains the urge and desire to create when her life turns simpler, away from the spotlight and a sort of self-imposed confinement she lived by in what she believed was her comfort zone. The film is also incredibly natural: everything flows, even conflict. A film about the challenge of living stripped-back lives.

Estudió dirección en la Universidad del Cine. Trabajó como ayudante de dirección y directora de casting en películas de Lucrecia Martel, Jorge Gaggero, Marcelo Piñeyro, Pablo Trapero o Gerardo Herrero, entre otros. En 2009, escribió y dirigió su multipremiada ópera prima, Rompecabezas , que tuvo su estreno mundial en la Berlinale 2010. En Sundance 2014 estrenó su segundo largometraje, El cerrajero.

She studied directing at the Universidad del Cine. She worked as assistant director and casting director in films by Lucrecia Martel, Jorge Gaggero, Marcelo Piñeyro, Pablo Trapero and Gerardo Herrero, among others. In 2009, she wrote and directed her feature film, Puzzle , which received multiple awards and had its world premiere at the 2010 Berlinale. Her second feature, The Lock Charmer , premiered at Sundance in 2014.
