Mito y memoria, paisaje y escultura, tecnología y arte, son solo algunos de los temas y conceptos que han surgido en estos años de investigación artística en el territorio de Carrara y sus alrededores. Una obstinada curiosidad que me llevó a visitar un lugar complejo para descubrir sus recursos históricos, humanos y sociales. Un caos necesario y armónico, que me indujo a desarrollar una película poética dedicada a los materiales del arte y a la relación entre el hombre y el paisaje que habita.
FRANCESCO BARTOLI Licenciado en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de Brera en Milán, en donde sigue los cursos del artista conceptual italiano Luciano Fabro. En su investigación fusiona el dibujo con otras disciplinas artísticas como el frottage (impresión directa sobre papel), el vídeo, la animación y la performance. Durante los más de 15 años que pasó en el extranjero desarrolló numerosos proyectos interdisciplinares, entre los que cabe destacar las exposiciones individuales en el Museo Nacional de Escultura de Valladolid (España) y el Museo de Arte Romano de Mérida (España) con la instalación - película de 16 mm. “Una Forma in Comune” y la participación a la 54 Bienal de Venecia - “Pabellón de Italia en el mundo” - con la exposición individual en el Instituto Italiano de Cultura de Madrid “El Escondite”. Entre los premios que ha recibido destacan el premio Ayuda al Arte Contemporáneo (2010) del Ministerio de Cultura de España, Italian Council X y PAC2021 del Ministerio de Cultura de Italia y las selecciones en festivales internacionales importantes como Photoespaña(2010) y Documenta Madrid(2011), respectivamente de fotografía y cine documental. Director y productor del proyecto “In Search For Nothing” (2016), un documental sobre y con migrantes menores no acompañados presentado en numerosas instituciones italianas, incluidas el Farm Cultural Park y el Museo Macro de Roma. Entre sus últimos proyectos internacionales, la exposición personal "Esculpir la memoria" en la Galería Dìnamo ESAP de Porto (2021) e ITALIAN COUNCIL X, en colaboración con EAC - Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo de Montevideo y Viafarini Milán. Su última película y exposición individual “Esculpir el viento”, ganaron el premio de producción PAC2021 del Ministerio de Cultura de Italia y se presentaron en el museo mudaC de Carrara de junio a octubre del 2023 con la curaduría de Laura Barreca.
Myth and memory, landscape and sculpture, technology and art are just some of the themes and concepts that have emerged in these intense and complicated years of the artist’s research in and around Carrara. A stubborn curiosity that prompted the artist to visit a complex place to discover its historical, human and social resources, but also to lose completely in its problems and contradictions. And it is from this chaos, of echoes of the past and new inspirations, studies of sculpture and unstable landscapes, that the idea of constructing a poetic film arises. This film is dedicated to the artistic materials and to the relationship between men and the landscape that they inhabit, live and that in this case shape incessantly. A bond, the one between men and the landscape of the Apuan Alps, that has consumed both for centuries. It is as if this territory were destined to disappear prematurely, guilty in spite of itself, of the eternal beauty kept in its bowels.
FRANCESCO BARTOLI Graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he followed the courses of artist Luciano Fabro. In his artistic research he merges drawing with other artistic disciplines such as frottage (direct printing on paper), video, animation and performance. During his 15 years abroad, he develops many interdisciplinary projects, among which it is worth mentioning his solos shows at the National Museum of Sculpture in Valladolid (Spain) and the Museo d'Arte Romana in Mérida (Spain) with the installation -16mm. color film "Una Forma in Comune" and his participation in the 54th Venice Biennale project "Padiglione Italia nel Mondo" with his solo show called “El Escondite” at Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid (Spain). Awards include the Support for Contemporary Art Award (2010) from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Italian Council X (2021-22) and PAC2021 from the Italian Ministry of Culture and selections at the international documentary and photography festivals PhotoEspaña (2010) and Documenta Madrid (2011). Director and producer of the project “In Search For Nothing” (2016), a docufilm featuring unaccompanied minor migrants presented in many Italian institutions among them Farm Cultural Park and Museo Macro - Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. His latest international projects include the solo exhibition “Scolpire la memoria” at Dìnamo Gallery Esap Porto (2021) and ITALIAN COUNCIL X (2021-22) with the project “Ecos: the memory of the last indigenous people Charrúas of Uruguay”. In collaboration with EAC - Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Montevideo and Viafarini. His last film and solo show project called “Scolpire il vento” received the award PAC2021 and was presented at mudaC - Museum of Contemporary Art of Carrara until October (2023).
