Si acaso el amor y el dinero son mundos irreconciliables, Por el dinero es la historia de esa tragedia.

Producida por El Pampero Cine, el nuevo film de Alejo Moguillansky narra los avatares de una pequeña compañía teatral en tour hacia Bogotá para competir por un jugoso premio económico. Quieren vivir de su arte, pero saben que están condenados a malvivir y por este motivo han titulado su obra Por el dinero. Consideran que es legítimo hacer teatro para ganar dinero y ennoblecer su trabajo. Sin embargo, saben que, en su sector, el cultural, está veladamente permitida la precariedad laboral que se alimenta de las vocaciones personales. Moguillansky traza así una crítica brechtiana que trasciende el propio ámbito teatral para convertirse en una sátira sobre el estado del mundo. La precariedad no está consentida únicamente en los que suben a los escenarios, sino en la propia economía argentina y en la ola de neoliberalismo que invade América Latina.

"We had to work two or three jobs at the same time. We were high-end workers. And there was no one rich enough to afford us. We had to be actor and documentary maker, painter and muse, poet and landscape, rifle and pray, rider and horse, all at the same time. Don Quixote at the same time as Cervantes." If love and money are irreconcilable realms, Por el dinero is a story about that tragedy.

Produced by El Pampero Cine, Alejo Moguillansky's latest film narrates the ups and downs of a small theater company on tour, heading to Bogota to compete for a juicy cash prize. They want to live from their art but know they are doomed to barely get by and this is why their play is named Por el dinero (For the Money). They believe it's valid to do theater to make money and dignify their work. However, they know that, in their field (culture), job insecurity feeding of personal vocations is covertly tolerated. Moguillansky thus outlines a Brechtian criticism that transcends the theater scene itself to become a satire on the current state of the world. The instability is not only sanctioned for those who get on a stage but also within the very Argentine economy and the wave of neoliberalism that is currently invading Latin America.
